-- Auditions are by appointment. Call Cyndy Chaney (807-2158) to make arrangements.
-- We usually audition in May and immediately prior to each semester. Make a note on your calendar to call us in August for participation beginning in September, and in December for participation beginning in January.
-- Auditions are one-on-one with our director, Jaye Churchill.
-- Auditions last about 5-10 minutes.
-- You will “sing back” several vocal warm-ups with the director, while she accompanies on piano.
-- Singers up to 6th grade will then sing the A-B-C song in several different keys.
-- Seventh graders and up in Concert Choir will sing the Star Spangled Banner.
-- 10th graders and up in Chamber Choir - download the voice part sung by Jaye and the sheet music provided on this page (see below.) Come to your audition prepared to sing this music.
-- Women - The audition is about 5 minutes long, one-on-one with Jaye. She will run you through some vocal warm-ups and would like to hear part of a song of your choice. In addition to your song, Jaye would like to have each singer learn a section of a choral piece which is down-loadable on our website (see below.) Jaye truly wants each audition to be successful, and encourages potential auditioners to call her with questions and concerns. She would be more than happy to meet with an individual prior to an audition.
-- For all choirs, the director is looking for accurate pitch, vocal range, and pleasant vocal quality. In many cases she will let you know immediately whether you have passed the audition. Occasionally, she will phone you a day or two later with the news instead.
