More about our repertoire:

Over time, the choir performs music from a wide variety of musical and ethnic traditions.  Individual concerts often revolve around a theme, however.  Unlike a public school setting, in this private choir there is often a lot of Christmas music in the fall program (although our holiday concert often includes Hannukah and winter-themed foreign language pieces as well). Other concerts may be devoted to themes, at the artistic discretion of the director,  which require months of preparation in the African tradition, or focus on war and peace in the Middle East and elsewhere.  Also, please be aware that a large part of the classical genre of choral music falls into the Christian Sacred category, and that the director greatly enjoys teaching and performing Gospel music. At times, we sing foreign language folk music written in Hebrew, Serbian, Korean, or whatever the musical occasion calls for.

Please be assured that Jaye selects her program to provide a fabulous musical experience for both the choir and the audience.  She is not attempting to provide a religious experience! If you are uncomfortable singing and performing music from a tradition other than your own, this is an issue you should consider carefully before joining the choir.  If you have particular concerns about the repertoire, please speak to the director at your audition.
